Seedance

Text-to-VideoAudio + VideoBy ByteDance

Seedance is ByteDance's hosted multimodal video model that turns a text prompt or a still image into a short clip — and generates the audio with it, producing synchronized dialogue, lip-sync, and ambient sound in a single pass. It reads full cinematic descriptions with real camera direction and runs entirely on Civitai, so there's no GPU or install to worry about. Generate a clip, with sound, straight from a description.

About Seedance

Seedance 2.0 is a hosted multimodal video generator from ByteDance's Seed team. It's built on a Dual-branch DiT (Diffusion Transformer) architecture that jointly generates the visuals, dialogue, lip-sync, and ambient sound in one pipeline, natively fusing text, image, and audio inputs rather than treating audio as a separate post step. Weights aren't published — the ByteDance-Seed org is on Hugging Face, but Seedance runs as a hosted model, which on Civitai means you generate it through the on-site generator instead of downloading it.

Two variants are available on Civitai: Seedance 2.0, the full-quality model set as the generator default, and Seedance 2.0 Fast, a speed-optimized variant that trades some fidelity for quicker turnaround. Both do text-to-video and image-to-video and both produce synchronized audio. Clips run from 480p up to 4K native, and the model can take reference inputs — up to nine images plus short audio and video clips — to steer a generation. Because it is API-only there are no LoRAs or local runs; you prompt it directly in the generator.

Choose Seedance when you want video and matching audio in a single generation — synchronized speech, sound effects, and ambience without a separate audio pass. Against a polished closed API like Kling or a fast one like Hailuo you get the joint audio-plus-video pipeline; against open-weight Wan you trade downloadable models and a LoRA ecosystem for that one-pass audio and ByteDance hosting. It runs right here on Civitai either way.

How to prompt Seedance

  • Write like a mini-screenplay in natural language, not tags. Seedance follows the order subject and performance → action → camera → lighting and environment → mood → audio. Weight syntax like (word:1.5) is ignored.
  • Don't write a negative prompt — Seedance doesn't use them. Say what you want positively instead of listing what to avoid.
  • Describe the audio, since Seedance generates it natively: name the dialogue lines, music style, sound effects, ambient noise, or ASMR detail you want synced to the picture. Leaving audio out wastes the model's signature feature.
  • Use real cinematography vocabulary over the vague word "cinematic": "Steadicam long take," "push-in," "pull-back," "over-the-shoulder," "macro shot," "slow rotation." Explicit camera technique reads far better than generic quality words.
  • Keep a clip to one continuous take — avoid describing multiple hard cuts or sequential scenes. Lean on physical detail ("wet-pavement reflections," "visible breath vapor," "weight and inertia") and performance cues ("solemn," "explosive") to direct the motion.

AI models move fast — new versions ship often, and a model’s capabilities or Buzz cost can change. For the latest, check the model’s own page before you generate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to generate with Seedance?

Generation on Civitai runs on Buzz, and you can claim free Blue Buzz every day — through actions like reacting to images and other on-site activity — to put straight toward generating, no real money required. Seedance is a premium hosted model that produces synchronized audio and video in one pass, so it costs more Buzz per clip than lighter models; heavier use means letting your Blue Buzz accumulate or adding a membership for higher limits. Seedance 2.0 Fast is the cheaper of the two variants when you want to stretch your Buzz further.

Does Seedance really generate the audio too?

Yes — that's its defining feature. Seedance natively generates synchronized dialogue, lip-sync, sound effects, and ambient sound in the same pipeline as the visuals, so describe the sound you want (voices, music style, SFX, ambience) right in your prompt. Try it in the generator and add an audio line to your next clip.

What's the difference between Seedance 2.0 and 2.0 Fast?

Seedance 2.0 is the full-quality model and the generator default; 2.0 Fast is a speed-optimized variant that returns clips more quickly and costs less Buzz, trading a little fidelity. Run the same prompt on each and compare — both are available on Civitai.

Can I use my own image or reference clips with Seedance?

Yes. Seedance does image-to-video and can take reference inputs — up to nine images plus short audio and video clips — to guide a generation, so you can animate a still or steer style and motion from your own material. Pick image-to-video in the Civitai generator to start from an image.

How long can a Seedance clip be, and what resolution?

Clips run from 480p up to 4K native. Single continuous takes work best, so aim for one camera move and one action rather than several hard cuts. Set length and size in the generator when you create a clip.

Do I need a GPU to run Seedance?

No — Seedance is a hosted, API-only model with no public weights, so there's nothing to download and no LoRAs or local setup. Civitai runs the compute for you; just open the generator and prompt it in the browser.
