About this version

Local AI, on your own PC. Proteus Lite runs Krea 2 on your own NVIDIA card, 8 GB of VRAM or more, through ComfyUI. No cloud, no account, no credits, no watermark and no daily limit, and your pictures never leave your PC.

An all-in-one suite. Make, Edit, Follow a picture, character sheets and storyboards all live in one app, so you never switch workflows or wire nodes: pick a tab, fill in a short form and press the button. Proteus Lite does the ComfyUI work for you.

What's new in 1.1.1

Upgrades

Pictures by day: the gallery is a drop-down per day (today open, older days folded away) with small tiles. Click a picture and it opens under its row with its prompt, size, seed and tools; click outside it or press Esc to fold it again.
Watch it being made: a new picture opens under its row by itself while Krea 2 works on it.
Select several: tick pictures in their corner (once one is ticked, a click on any picture ticks it too) and delete them together. They go to the Recycle Bin, so a wrong click can be undone.
Steadier progress: the percentage in the browser tab and on the live display remembers how long each step took on your PC, so it moves evenly and its estimate is closer.
A new layout: every tab in one column on the left.
Presets: save Make an image's settings as a tile and get them back in one click.
Wildcards: write {red|blue|green} in a prompt and each picture picks one (every pick still goes through the prompt filter).
Seed tools: step a seed up or down, or pick one of your last ten.
Graphics-card presets: 8, 12 or 16+ GB set the sizes and memory options for your card.
Themes: five colour themes, from the Theme button.
Missing models: a tab that can't run says which files it needs and downloads them for you (official links, resumed and checked).

Fixes

Styles no longer write on your pictures. Many styles carried a template command the style node doesn't understand, and some had section headings (like "YOUR CONTEXT:" or "THE GLOBE'S BASE PLAQUE:"). Krea 2 painted those words onto signs, plaques, stamps and walls. Proteus Lite now takes them out before the picture is made; the style itself is unchanged.
Big queues keep going. With many pictures queued at once, Windows could run out of connections (error 10048) and Proteus Lite stopped following pictures ComfyUI was still making. It now keeps one connection open, and rides out short ComfyUI hiccups.

Updating: extract the new zip over your Proteus Lite folder and run Install Proteus.bat again. Your pictures, uploads and settings stay, and nothing new needs downloading. Coming from 1.0? 1.1 added the Storyboard tab, character sheets, Redo one shot, Recent prompts and Copy prompt: they come with this update too.

Your first 15 minutes

Start the model downloads first (about 20 GB, the slowest part; Proteus Lite includes no models, and once it is installed Setup can also download them for you):
- krea2_turbo_fp8_scaled.safetensors, 13.1 GB, into ComfyUI\models\diffusion_models
- qwen3vl_4b_fp8_scaled.safetensors, 5.2 GB, into text_encoders
- qwen_image_vae.safetensors, 254 MB, into vae
- krea2_identity_edit_v1_2.safetensors, 1.8 GB, into loras (for Edit; the _r128 file, 914 MB, on 8 or 12 GB cards)
The first three are on https://huggingface.co/Comfy-Org/Krea-2 and the last on https://huggingface.co/conradlocke/krea2-identity-edit. Already have Krea 2 in ComfyUI? Skip this: Proteus finds your files by their names.
While they download, extract the zip to a short path (like C:\Proteus-Lite) and double-click Install Proteus.bat. It finds your ComfyUI portable or installs the official one.
Move the files into place (MODELS.txt lists them), open Proteus Lite from the desktop and press Setup: Make an image and Edit should say ready.
Type a prompt, keep the defaults and press Make: about a minute a picture on an RTX 5080 once the models are loaded. Then click it, press Edit this picture and change one thing in a sentence.

Requirements: Windows 10/11, an NVIDIA RTX card with 8 GB of VRAM or more, 32 GB RAM recommended. On 8 to 12 GB, ComfyUI keeps part of Krea 2 in RAM while it works, so pictures take longer (start at 1 MP); 16 GB is the smoothest (made and tested on an RTX 5080, 16 GB). Stuck? Setup > Copy diagnostics and paste it into your message.

Rules (18+ only): no minors, ever; no real people without their consent; follow each model's license. Proteus refuses prompts about children and asks who is in each picture you bring from disk before using it. Pictures made in Proteus aren't filtered or asked about (only prompts are read). Proteus Lite is a browser app for making and editing pictures with Krea 2 on your own NVIDIA GPU, at no cost, through ComfyUI. The installer finds your ComfyUI portable (or installs the official one), adds the node packs it needs at tested versions, and puts a shortcut on your desktop. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

What it does

Make an image (Krea 2): a two-pass quality recipe (a draft, then a detail pass that enlarges it up to 2x), styles, your own LoRAs.
Follow a picture: copy the pose (one person or several) or the layout (depth) of a photo.
Edit an image (Krea 2 Identity Edit): change what you ask and keep the rest. Paint the area or click a thing to select it (SAM 3.1), keep only what changed, combine up to 3 pictures.
Character sheets: one character from four sides (face close-up, profile, front, back), cut from one wide picture or made as a front view and three edits.
Make a storyboard: one or two recurring characters in up to 12 shots, one per line; Krea 2 edits the same pictures for each shot (same faces and outfits, new place, pose and camera), then a numbered board.
A gallery with a before / after slider, a node map of every graph, and a Setup panel that shows where each model goes.
No limits: no watermark, no size cap, no daily count.

Want video? The full Proteus adds:

Replace a performer (MiniMax H3): your own character takes over the movement of a clip you made or may use, up to 2 minutes, with the original sound, new audio, lip-sync or a new voice.
Create a video (MiniMax H3): text, first/last frame, references, keyframes; long scenes in parts (one continuous shot past 15 s) and Continue a take.
Upscale a video: RTX Video Super Resolution or SeedVR2, plus RIFE to 48 or 60 fps.
Muse: Proteus' prompt writer; your own local GGUF language model writes prompts.
