Animal Prompts

These are lists of hundreds of animal prompts that can be used for wildcards or inspiration. All of these were written using offline animal encyclopedias as reference. The prompts were then run in Krea 2 then manually checked for accuracy. Animals that weren't close enough were removed.

What's special about some lists is that they contain an appropriate habitat for the animal. This way animals aren't on plain backgrounds and the backgrounds are typically less generic than if you prompt something like "in its natural habitat". The prompts are still simple and contain no style or composition instructions so they can be plugged into longer prompts as wildcards.

These are good for making stylized images not intended to represent the real animal, sharing on AI-friendly sites where they are clearly labelled as AI, or for whatever you want when you're making the images for yourself. You might even learn about some new animals you've never heard of.

Please do not use these prompts to make images intended to represent the real animals as stock or reference material. AI generated images are not consistent or accurate enough; even when the animals look right some details could be wrong. In some ways that's even worse since it can be harder to tell what's real. Let's not clog up the internet with inaccurate pictures that mislead people or bury real images of the animals.

The files in the prompts folder are cleaned up and only list the prompt. They also contain variations I made from the master files. The notes folder contains my master files that are organized with markdown. These have animals in labeled sections with book page numbers, show which animals I tried and removed, and some animals have notes. They're best viewed in something that can parse markdown. Most GUIs that do wildcards will ignore my commented out lines, so you should still be able to use these directly.

This is a work in progress. Some lists are incomplete. There may be typos. Some of my generations could have been lucky and you may get animals that are completely wrong. Some of the environments need to to be made more interesting or accurate. Even "done" lists will continue to be reorganized, curated, and culled.

Although these prompts were tested in Krea 2, they're just text files so there's nothing stopping you from using them in any model you want. Just be aware that other models won't recognize the same lists of animals.

I'm still working on reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, other domestic animals, and fantasy creatures. I may also test these in other models.
