Station Master Otter
The river never left him. The railway just gave him a timetable.
He stands on the platform as if he grew there — an anthropomorphic otter in a neatly pressed station-master’s uniform, cap set just so, brass buttons catching the afternoon light. The thick, tapering tail rests behind him like a well-kept flag. Whiskers twitch at the sound of an approaching train. In one paw he holds a whistle; in the other, a pocket watch that has never been late.
