Andrei Iordan, Castlevania, Desperation and Pride

Andrei Iodran, an OC and main character in an in progress Castlevania prequel (with Carmilla!) "Kiss Of Stone and Ebon Gaze. Only the 1st chapter is out, I have some minor stuff to work through, then I'll give the 2nd chapter my full attention, its possibly my highest effort fic because I hold myself to a high standard with it.

And how about Andrei? A man, but just barely, so I'm pretty happy with these gens. I get tired of the portrait thing, but we got a range of styles, though its hard to get him to emote and for some reason AI insists on trying to give him earrings or long hair. I'd really like to capture in a "true" Castlevania art style, but these are in the ballpark, he's a gloomy, gothic sort of character, not boy band material but he should clean up good. I ought to come back and specifically gen him poor and dirty, you can find a few like that in previous posts. Also a bit of open shirt cheesecake, I wasn't going for that but you can enjoy that if ya like.

AI also loves to stick him in a priests outfit. which I don't mind sometimes since his adopted father was a priest. He became a fairly militant atheist but I like to envision alternate histories where he wound up becoming either a Sypha or a Grant (I see him more as a Grant though he's more of a brain, I just don't see him picking up magic ever).

You still here? Well that is kind of you I must say. How about a bit of flair from Chatgpt here?

In a decaying corner of Wallachia, Andrei Iordan, a young, cynical grave keeper and social outcast, finds unexpected company during a night shift in the cemetery: a mysterious, masked woman in white who introduces herself as Countess Carmilla Karnstein, descendant of the infamous "Blood Countess" Mircalla. Their tense yet oddly warm conversation sparks a strange connection between them, marked by shared alienation from the world around them. Carmilla departs into the fog, but not before inviting him to her home at Laruba Mansion.

The next morning, Andrei is fired by his superstitious, abusive boss for interacting with Carmilla, whom he believes to be a demon. Ostracized by the townsfolk and mocked in the tavern, Andrei realizes his already fragile standing has been shattered by mere association with the countess. In desperation, he sets out to find Laruba Mansion, hoping Carmilla might help him restore his reputation.

His journey leads him through dark, wolf-infested woods. Mauled and nearly killed by the beasts, Andrei is saved at the last moment and awakens in the ruined grandeur of Laruba Mansion, tended by Carmilla herself. She’s enigmatic, elegant, and gently evasive—refusing to reveal her face or her full truth. Despite this, a rapport grows between them, marked by philosophical musings on fear, faith, and society.

When Andrei asks her to return to town and prove she’s no supernatural threat, Carmilla refuses—eloquently dismantling his naive request with reasons rooted in class pride, fear of mob justice, and disdain for ignorant villagers. Instead, she gifts him a heavy purse of coins to help rebuild his life. Though reluctant, Andrei accepts.

Back in Aljiba, Andrei uses the money to repay debts and invest with the local lender, finally earning some measure of respect. As spring begins to bloom, he finds himself unable to forget Carmilla—and wonders when he might return to her again.

Andrei Iordan: Core Traits

  • Cynical Rationalist: Believes in logic, hard truth, and personal responsibility. Rejects religion and myth—mostly as a defense mechanism.

  • Outsider: A bastard orphan, scorned by his town. Andrei internalizes this rejection with bitterness and dry humor.

  • Lonely Romantic: Despite his dour philosophy, he longs for connection, admiration, and something more than survival.

  • Intelligent but Unskilled: He’s bookish, observant, and quick-witted, but lacks practical talents that would give him value in his society.

  • Moral and Empathetic: Even in his lowest moments, he thinks about Carmilla’s pain. He doesn’t exploit, he doesn’t lie—unless he has to.

  • Transforming: By the end of the chapter, Andrei is changing. He’s taken Carmilla’s coins, worn a mask of his own, and started to play the game of appearances.
