社内での呼称は、日本航空（JAL）では1996年9月30日で「スチュワーデス」という呼び名は廃止され、代わりに「アテンダント」が用いられている。全日本空輸（ANA）では、1987年以降「スチュワーデス」に代わり「キャビンアテンダント」を用いている。
