Solarum Ring Habitat Exterior XL draws a giant rotating ring habitat seen from space: a wheel about 10 km across with eight thin spokes, a drum-shaped hub, a long glass roof on its inner side with green farmland showing through, and a patched, panelled outer hull.

It is the outside of my [Solarum Ring Habitat XL](https://civitai.red/models/3022064/solarum-ring-habitat-xl-inside-a-giant-rotating-ring-habitat-glass-roof-curved-walls-land-rising-on-both-sides-sdxl), built from the same 3D model, so the two match.

Best for: the whole ring from a distance. Close views are not there yet (see below); they are coming in v2.

How to use it

Start from this prompt at weight 0.7:

jring_exterior, the whole ring seen from afar, seen from above, in full sunlight, Saturn and its rings in the sky, space photograph

Change one thing at a time:

- the angle: seen from above, seen from below, seen nearly edge-on

- the light: in full sunlight, half in shadow, on its night side, rows of lit windows

- the backdrop: Saturn, or a blue ocean planet below

What it can't do (yet)

- Close views ("a close arc of the ring", "along the outer hull") come out as a plain grey curved wall.

- The trigger on its own gives a planet in fog, not the ring.

- Small added things, like a ship docking, mostly don't appear.

- With no planet in the prompt (just black space), it draws a thin plain ring. Keep a planet in the scene.

- Higher weights and later epochs flatten close views even more; this is the epoch-4 save.

How it was made

I rendered 32 views of my 3D ring model in the Saturn system (correct ring geometry, Saturn's rings drawn as a real flat ring plane), then painted each one with Juggernaut XL v9. 59 of those pictures, captioned only with what changes (distance, angle, light, whether Saturn is in the sky), are the training set. No other models' outputs, no photos of real places. The full method is in my article: https://civitai.red/articles/37456/teaching-sdxl-a-shape-it-has-never-seen-a-ring-habitat-lora-built-from-a-3d-model

Training: Juggernaut XL v9 base, kohya sd-scripts, LoRA dim 32 / alpha 16, UNet only, 768 px buckets, AdamW8bit, cosine, LR 1e-4, 10 repeats, released epoch 4 (888 steps over 6 epochs).

Showcase: Juggernaut XL v9, Euler a, Karras, 24 steps, CFG 4.5, LoRA 0.7, 1216x832, hires 1.5x.
