Amateur: Amateur ↔ Professional Photography is an SDXL concept slider controlling the apparent level of photographic professionalism in an image.

Positive weights push photographs toward a deliberate professional/editorial presentation: controlled lighting and exposure, stronger composition, polished colour and contrast, purposeful framing, subject presentation and the visual finish associated with commercial, editorial and professional photography.

Negative weights move in the opposite direction toward casual amateur photography: available light, incidental composition, ordinary camera placement, less controlled exposure and colour, candid presentation and the imperfections characteristic of personal snapshots.

The slider is intended to change how a photograph appears to have been made, rather than simply adding or removing photographic quality. At moderate weights, the amateur pole can remain completely plausible and coherent—it just looks less deliberately produced.

Testing across portraits, groups, landscapes, wildlife, architecture and travel photography suggests the direction generalizes well beyond any single photographic subject.
