Schimmer ILL

Schimmer is a cute, warm, charming checkpoint series, built around defined linework and soft light. Bold outlines, golden-hour rendering, characters that feel approachable rather than imposing. The goal is output that stays inviting without collapsing into generic pastel mush.

What this model is good at

-Cozy, domestic, slice-of-life compositions. Greenhouses, festivals, rooftops, quiet interiors

-Warm lighting: golden hour, lantern glow, soft window light, pastel skies

-Characters with charm: gentle expressions, relaxed posture, small human gestures

-Thick, confident outlines that hold up at lower resolutions

-Warm color grading (amber, cream, dusty rose) with selective cool accents (teal, sage, muted violet)

What this model isn't good at

-Not built for full dark or horror mood. It can place a character in a dark setting, but the character itself stays warm. For gothic atmosphere throughout, I recommend my Atem Series instead.

-Not built around explicit content. It can produce it, but I didn't tune it for that.

-Not a painterly, soft-edge look. The linework is deliberate. If you want atmospheric blur, this isn't the tool.

Recommended settings

Sampler: Euler Dy, Euler Negative Dy, Restart, DPM++ 2M Karras. (Don't use Hiresfix for Euler Negative, unless you know what you are doing.)

CFG: 4-6 (higher CFG introduces "Splash Art Styles" occasionally, where the image is framed by white)

Steps: 30 for Euler Negative Dy. Feel free to use other steps for Restart and DPM++ 2M Karras Resolution: Standard SDXL resolutions. Prefers 832x1216, 1024x1024, or 1216x832 for native performance.

I had positive experiences with 1920x1080 resolution, but I have a beefy GPU. Use at own risk.

Prompt guidance

-Schimmer works best with minimal negative prompts. Recommended negative: worst quality, (low quality, normal quality:1.3) -For warmth: describe light sources directly (lantern, window, sunset, candle) rather than relying on mood tokens. Schimmer responds strongly to lighting cues. -For characters: specific comfortable details outperform generic quality words. "Oversized sweater, sleeves past the wrists" beats "cozy high quality clothing." -Settings and props early in your prompt will have a stronger feel. A watering can, a lantern, a mug does more for the mood than three atmosphere adjectives.

Merge composition

Built on Illustrious XL 2.0 base. Emerged from a LoRA merge into Odem ILL's checkpoint that went somewhere I didn't plan, then developed deliberately from there. Four LoRA components, re-merged to stabilise linework consistency across settings.

License and use

Feel free to use outputs commercially. Merging into your own work is welcome — credits are appreciated but not required. No training data restrictions beyond what the base license carries.
