Standing as the 23rd installment of the Precure franchise, this series pairs a detective motif with a nostalgic setting in 1999. Cure Arcana Shadow is a rare antagonist Precure directly aligned with the rival forces—a spiritual successor to intense rivals like Dark Precure. While her true identity is Ruruka Moria, she initially operates as a core operative of the Phantom Thieves. Outside of battle, Ruruka exhibits an endearing gap by almost always snacking on ice cream. Upon her visual reveal, she generated explosive popularity: when advance merchandise was released at the official Pretty Store on January 29, 2026 (the eve of the previous season's finale), overwhelming crowds flooded the venue and instantly emptied shelves, prompting the franchise to launch emergency made-to-order reprints.
