What it is
A ComfyUI node pack that turns dropdown menus into a full, ready-to-render character prompt (plus a structured JSON record, if you want it). No LLM. No API key. No model download. Pure Python — install it and it just works, without dragging anything else into your environment.
Why it doesn't produce garbage
Random generators are usually dumb — that's the whole problem with big wildcard stacks. Identity Forge runs everything through a constraint engine before it hands you a prompt, so it won't hand you a pale-skinned person tagged with an ethnicity that doesn't match, and it won't put "cozy fireplace lighting" on an outdoor daytime scene. Locations, lighting, expressions, poses, accessories — every one of these is coherent with everything else, not just individually plausible.
Every field works the same way: randomize it, lock it to something specific, or turn it off. Want a fully random person? Leave everything alone. Want a random person with green eyes in loungewear, full stop? Lock those two fields and randomize the rest. It's seed-stable too, so a character you like can be reproduced exactly.
The Cosplay node - do NOT miss this!
This is the one to pay attention to. It's not a list of character names — each entry has a full canonical description of the character plus variants of their most iconic looks, and where a character is known for a specific prop (Thor's hammer, Captain America's shield), that's in there (optionally!) too. So even on a T2I model that doesn't actually "know" the character by name, you've got a real shot at getting something recognizable.
A few things that make it more than a costume list:
- Crossplay support — put the costume on a random person regardless of gender, or scope it to match
- Unmask toggle — for masked characters (Spider-Man, a Mandalorian helmet) the node normally suppresses the randomized face/hair since it's hidden anyway; flip Unmask to reveal the person underneath the suit
- Franchise scoping — tell the random roll to stay within Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Anime & Manga, etc.
And you can stack it: run a Cosplayer into a Creature node and you get that character's costume surviving onto a hybrid, feral, or anthro body — Superman as an anthropomorphic praying-mantis/sloth hybrid is a real thing this pack can produce. Or run a Cosplayer into an Archetype for "your favorite character, but as a 1950s diner waitress." This is the whole reason wildcard stacking for character work stops making sense once you have this node.
The rest of the toolkit
- Archetype node — themed looks by job, hobby, era, or aesthetic, layered onto a randomized person
- Creature node — animal, insect, monster, alien, and more, fully feral or anthropomorphic — and hybrids are per-body-part, so a boar's head on hummingbird wings is a normal request here, not a nightmare of manual prompt surgery
- Modifier node — drop a custom descriptor onto one field or a whole group without rebuilding anything
- Vault — save a character you like (with a thumbnail) and recall it later as a chainable preset
All of these chain into each other and into the main Identity Forge node instead of fighting over a single socket — whichever node sits closest to Identity Forge in the chain wins on any overlapping field, so you can stack presets and know exactly which one takes priority.
Sample workflow
A sample workflow for Krea2 Turbo is attached — but Identity Forge isn't tied to any particular model, it just outputs a prompt string, so it drops into whatever you're already running. The attached workflow was built with [comfy-draftsman](https://github.com/EnragedAntelope/comfy-draftsman).
Install
No dependencies to fight with.
ComfyUI Manager (recommended): search "Identity Forge," click Install, restart.
