FLUX.2 UltraHD RAW VAE

This VAE works with all FLUX.2 models including Klein, FLUX.2, and Ernie

Quick Assessment:

  1. Color enhancement by both increasing number of colors used, and a slight increase in saturation, without luminance or contrast corruption.

  2. Increase in sharpness/gradient energy

The detailed stats are found below, note while the model is 4.1x "worse" on LPIP's FLUX.2 scored an insane 0.0073 both scores are magnitudes of order below human perception.

Side Note: While the video effect showing the enhancement is not as eye catching or dramatic as my other VAE's the amount of failed trainings exceeded double digits to create a VAE with a LPIPS close to FLUX.2

Direct Metric Comparison (150 Image Test VS Base FLUX.2)

LPIPS

  • FLUX Base: 0.0073

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: 0.0303

  • Difference: 4.1× higher

  • Meaning: Less reconstruction-faithful but more enhancement-oriented

Gradient Energy

  • FLUX Base: 405.5

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: 633.5

  • Difference: +56%

  • Meaning: Significantly sharper detail and stronger edge enhancement

Unique Colors

  • FLUX Base: 37,369

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: 39,184

  • Difference: +4.9%

  • Meaning: Richer color variation and smoother HDR gradients

Brightness Bias

  • FLUX Base: 0.0047

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: 0.0030

  • Difference: Slightly improved

  • Meaning: Excellent luminance preservation

Contrast Gain

  • FLUX Base: 0.984

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: 0.983

  • Difference: Nearly identical
Meaning: HDR tone and dynamic range preserved

Red Shift

  • FLUX Base: +0.0048

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: +0.0188

  • Meaning: Slightly warmer red response

Green Shift

  • FLUX Base: -0.0037

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: -0.0104

  • Meaning: Minor reduction in green balance

Blue Shift

  • FLUX Base: +0.0181

  • UltraHD RAW VAE: +0.0434

  • Meaning: Stronger blue/cyan HDR emphasis

Summary

FLUX.2 UltraHD RAW VAE is designed for HDR enhancement, texture recovery, sharper detail, richer gradients, and cinematic rendering rather than strict pixel-perfect reconstruction. Compared to the base FLUX VAE, it produces substantially stronger edge detail, improved color richness, and enhanced microcontrast while maintaining stable brightness and contrast behavior.
