"I will tell you about the night of silence and a temple full of people who believed the light was permanent. Of those who had no contengency plan if the dark came for them. But then, it did. As it always does.

I stayed. I stayed because I had nowhere else to be, and because the alternative was admitting that everything I had given my life to meant nothing. I prayed to empty walls and silence.

The light came back. Not the way I expected, nor when I deserved it. At a time when I had nothing left to offer, it came back anyway. I do not tell you this so that you will believe. I tell you this so that when your own walls go dark and silent, and they will, you will recall that someone has been in that room before you. And came out the other side still standing."
