ancient burial chamber carved directly into rough limestone bedrock, enclosed subterranean space with uneven stone floor, low rock ceiling and textured walls extending naturally from the surrounding cave. A simple stone burial bench hewn from the wall lines the chamber, holding collapsed linen burial wrappings lying flat and partially unraveled as if a body recently departed, with a separate neatly folded face cloth resting beside them. Fine dust and subtle traces of burial spices linger in still air.
