Where is PASSITFORWARD #14?
Are you familiar with the Pass It Forward bounties — where each winner receives a prize (here, 10k Yellow Buzz) meant solely to fund the creation of the next bounty in the series within a few days?
It’s a continuous relay, where the host invests only what they choose to add beyond the initial prize, while the original 10k Yellow Buzz came from the founder of the chain.
The last bounty in the series — Pass It Forward #13 — was hosted by me, and the winner was @cakc and since then passitforward #14 has been taking its time. Among others, @ccollins contacted him several times, reminding him to continue the series. Two days ago, I reached out as well, asking him to create PassItForward #14. cakc chose not to reply — neither to me nor to ccollins.
Now, I generally assume that real life takes priority, and it’s entirely possible that cakc simply hasn’t had the time yet. Still, since he continues to post new images, I have to conclude that cakc has decided to keep the 10k for himself, effectively ending the chain.
Why this article?
Transparency.
Transparency about why the bounty chain has stalled — and under what circumstances it may continue- and transparency about why I’ll ignore any future participation from cakc in my own bounties (including one where every participant otherwise receives a Buzz reward).
And yes: maybe you’ll want to see whether you wish to support someone who seems indifferent to the community.
What’s next?
ccollins has offered to sponsor the 10k to keep the chain alive — much appreciated. I’ll match that with 5k to share the load 50/50.
If the runner-up from Pass It Forward #13 agrees to host #14, the 10k will go to them. I reached out just before posting this article and am waiting for a decision within the next 2 days.
There was no formal third-place winner; instead, I distributed 500 Buzz to a few participants as recognition, including ccollins. If the runner-up declines and ccollins is willing to sponsor it, I’d ask him to host the continuation himself.
I’ll coordinate with ccollins in the next two to three days.
That means Pass It Forward #14 could hopefully be expected in about 10–14 days.
