WHomer vertical oil painting depicts a young boy leaning up against a wooden fence. The boy’s position is off-center to the left. He wears a dark brown hat that shades his fair face. His arms rest on the top railing of the fence, his hands clasped. He is dressed in a chambray shirt with long sleeves rolled up at the wrists and brown overalls, the bottom of the right leg dangling near the ground to reveal a bare foot. The fence is a medium-brown, slightly weathered wood, with two horizontal rails creating a barrier. Behind the boy and the fence, the painting employs a warm, blurred palette, suggesting summer sunlight filtering through leaves. An orange building can be seen in the background on the right, partly obscured by foliage that peaks over the fence and a few small white flowers dot the grassy area under the fence. The composition creates a narrative, engaging the viewer with the subject's moment of rest and reflection by the fence.<lora:WHomer-000008:1>
