morsure, An engraving on copper. A tiny library occupies the hollow interior of a vast living tree. Its curved shelves follow the inner wall without cutting through the trunk, and a narrow stair climbs to a small reading platform above. At ground level, an adult librarian offers a book to a traveler standing in the open doorway. Their proportions are ordinary, making the extraordinary scale of the tree immediately clear. Roots form natural thresholds around the entrance, while the tree's crown continues upward beyond the top of the scene. A few books lie on a central table beside a plain cup and a shaded lamp. Daylight enters through the doorway and two small openings between major roots, leaving the upper shelves in quieter shadow. The interior should feel inhabitable and carefully arranged, with secure railings and enough headroom along the stairs. Outside, ferns and a forest path connect the library to a larger woodland. Let the image suggest a place discovered by walking slowly, where knowledge has become part of the life of the forest.
