morsure, An engraving on steel. Three coastal pines grow along a rocky ridge above the sea, their crowns leaning inland under years of prevailing wind. The nearest tree has exposed roots gripping cracks in the rock, while the other two occupy progressively more distant ledges. Their branches should show different histories rather than repeat the same shape. Below the ridge, the coastline curves into a sheltered inlet where a small strip of pale beach separates the land from the water. A low cloud bank rests on the horizon, and the open sea occupies a broad, quiet portion of the image. Wind is suggested by the direction of the needles and a few bent grasses, without turning the scene into a violent storm. Sunlight reaches the outer edges of the crowns and the upper faces of the rocks. The viewpoint should make the height tangible while keeping the terrain structurally clear. Let the trees feel stubborn and adapted, part of a landscape shaped by persistent forces rather than a single dramatic event.
