A wide candid photograph of ashby7 woman in her sheriff's uniform, a sergeant in her early thirties, bending at the waist beside the open driver's window of a dusty red convertible on an empty desert highway, one black-gloved hand resting on the door frame while the other hands back a driver's licence. Her pressed tan uniform shirt with vivid azure trim and azure tie, gold star badge, black duty belt and polished black thigh-high riding boots catch the light; her long black locs are gathered at the nape. In the driver's seat a young woman in her twenties with oversized sunglasses looks up at her. Behind them a patrol car with its light bar glowing waits on the gravel shoulder, and the two-lane asphalt runs straight toward low purple mesas. The low evening sun sits behind her right shoulder, rimming her silhouette in warm gold and throwing long shadows across the road, with soft fill on her face from the pale asphalt. Eye-level framing from the passenger side, 35 mm lens, natural colour.
