A desolate nightmare illustration in an extreme macro close up, seen from directly above, of a single open eye of a pale woman lying beneath a sheet of clear black ice, her lashes frosted white, thin strands of dark hair drifting like roots around the socket, tiny trapped air bubbles and fine cracks spreading across the ice over her cheek. The pupil is wide and still, and in its glossy surface a small reflection shows a very tall thin figure standing on the ice above her, a figure that is nowhere in the frame. The edges of the image fade into soft darkness so only the eye and a small patch of skin remain, surrounded by deep black negative space. The only light is a cold dim glow filtering down through the ice. Palette of ink black, frost white, bruised grey blue and a thin line of dried rust red at the corner of the eye. Soft ink wash with delicate linework in the cracks, fine grain, airless and hushed.
