A film photograph taken from inside a carved pumpkin, looking out through its jagged triangle eyes and grinning mouth at a woman in her twenties leaning in close to peer back inside. The rough orange pumpkin flesh and stringy pulp frame the edges of the image, and a short white candle burns at the bottom of the frame, its flame softly out of focus in the foreground. Through the carved openings her face fills the view: long dark wavy hair, a few freckles, a small black witch hat pinned at an angle, and dark green eyes wide with curiosity, lit warm orange from below by the candle. Behind her, a dark kitchen is lit only by a string of orange lights over the window, with carving knives, spoons and pumpkin seeds scattered on newspaper across the table. Shot on Kodak Portra 800 with a 35mm lens, shallow depth of field, warm candle glow, fine film grain and natural skin texture. Cozy, playful and quietly spooky.
