A narrow canal in Venice at golden hour, seen from a small stone bridge. Old palazzi with crumbling ochre, rose and terracotta walls rise on both sides, their arched windows framed in white stone with green wooden shutters. Lines of colorful laundry hang across the canal between the houses, white sheets and red shirts glowing in the low sunlight. A gondolier in a striped shirt and straw hat steers a black gondola with two passengers toward the viewer, and more boats are moored at wooden poles with blue and white stripes. The water glitters with countless fragments of gold, turquoise and orange reflections. At the end of the canal a church bell tower catches the last warm light against a pale blue sky.
