In the foreground, wet dock planks extend across the frame, with stacked wooden crates, tied canvas sacks, barrels, and thick mooring posts wrapped in rope on both sides. At center, a steep wooden gangplank with rope handrails rises directly from the dock to a rectangular doorway cut into the ship’s hull. The massive dark timber hull dominates the middle ground, constructed from horizontal weathered planks reinforced by black iron bands, rivets, square gunports, and projecting cannons.
