This is a black and white etching depicting a traditional bullfighting scene. The image, created in a detailed and textured style, captures several elements and characters within a bullring. In the foreground, three large, muscular bulls with prominent horns are positioned to the left, facing away from the viewer. To the right, a matador dressed in a traditional bullfighting suit, including a wide-brimmed hat, is in a dynamic, crouched stance, holding a bullfighting cape. His posture suggests he is preparing to engage with the bull. Surrounding the matador are several assistants or peons, dressed in simple, loose-fitting garments, who are also crouched and ready to assist. In the background, two more matadors, similarly dressed, are mounted on horses, watching the scene unfold. The bullring is enclosed by a low, horizontal barrier, and the upper part of the image shows a dark, textured background, possibly representing an audience or a roof. The etching's use of cross-hatching and line work adds depth and texture to the image, highlighting the movement and tension within the bullfighting event. The overall composition and style convey a sense of traditional, cultural, and historical significance.
