An epic, visionary landscape depicting the physical tearing of the sky. The earthly realm below is a jagged, ruined wasteland of shattered stone and deep, impenetrable shadows, lit only by scattered, dying campfires. Above, the dark canopy of clouds has been violently torn asunder, revealing a blinding, utopian celestial city of glowing marble and gold resting upon clouds of pure radiance. Countless ranks of glowing angelic figures pour down through the rift like a waterfall of starlight. Extreme contrast between the divine, blinding illumination of heaven and the desperate, crushing darkness of earth. Sublime romanticism.
