EHop the artist's mastery of light and shadow is again on display in this oil painting, which renders an intriguing scene of intimate isolation. In the painting, a woman sits in a train car by the window wearing a dark dress and hat. Her face is hidden in shadow, and is holding a book. Outside the window, the landscape is set on fire with a dramatic red glow. The interior of the train compartment, rendered in muted green tones, is both comforting and claustrophobic. The painting speaks eloquently of the transient nature of human life. <lora:EHop-000003:1>
